State of Syn Tells a Story with Mobile and Google Glass [#Transmedia]

Dr. Pamela Rutledge‘s insight:

Whether or not State of Syn succeeds commercially or critically, they should get kudos for pushing boundaries of multi-sensory #transmedia #storytelling and helping people think differently about integrating technology such as Google Glass.  Efforts like this emphasize #AR apps and wearable technology as a rich form of experience instead of creepy privacy violation. In this case, the game mechanics do not tie directly to the series.  The Google Glass is more of a “parallel play” experience linking narrative with gaming.  One app (for $) creates a “synesthesia” layer – the same trait held by the show’s lead protagonist Annika Drake.  (I’ve always wanted to know what it was like to taste music and see feelings.)  This should light a fire under other innovators to get creative!  Can’t wait to see what happens.
